CHOICE OF CLASS
Today, international regulations impose stringent safety and reliability compliance requirements before yachts can be authorized for charter use. These regulations entail onerous construction standards, but simultaneously add greater value to your yacht, ensuring that you'll be able to sell it profitably when the time comes.
CM-Y can advise you on ways to obtain substantial tax cuts by commercially operating your yacht. The choice of Class Authority needs careful consideration to ensure that you benefit from the best construction and operational requirements, but also at the minimum cost.
Nowadays, the most commonly applied Charter Safety Standard is that of the British MCA (Maritime Coastguard Agency), but you can also consider alternative charter approvals, such as "Charter Class" by RINA. In addition to Class Certification, you may like to apply for certificates in recognition of increased safety, comfort and environmentally friendly systems. You may like to have other Class notations such as "Comfort Class" or "Green Star Class" which can also give you further advantages.
CM-Y will personally assist you in choosing the levels required, and explain how these can affect your safety and comfort onboard, as well as the added eventual price you can expect to obtain when you decide to sell your yacht.
